The bodysuit baby is the staple piece of any newborn's wardrobe. Our selection favours the certified OEKO-TEX organic cotton, comfortable cuts (long sleeves, short sleeves, newborn wrap-over) and practical details: poppers at the crotch, neckline that doesn't pinch.

The bodysuit: a wardrobe staple for babies

The bodysuit is a must-have item in any baby’s wardrobe. Worn on its own in summer or under another outfit in winter, it covers the torso whilst staying snug thanks to its press-stud fastening at the crotch — no T-shirts riding up, no draughts down the back. In everyday life, it’s the garment your baby wears all the time, from the very first day of babyhood right through to the very last.

Long sleeves, short sleeves, or sleeveless?

The choice depends on the season and the outfit worn over it. The long-sleeved bodysuits are suitable for all cool seasons and can be worn under jumpers, jackets or pyjamas in winter. short-sleeve bodysuits are perfect for summer or for wearing under long-sleeved outfits when it's not too cold. The sleeveless bodysuits (vests) are useful in hot weather or for layering under dresses and shirts.

Tip: provide all three types to cover every situation, in varying quantities depending on the baby's birth season.

The bodysuit wrap-around nappy: a must-have for newborns

For the first few weeks, the bodysuit wrap-around top (or a cross-over bodysuit) is particularly recommended. The front opening means you don’t have to pull the garment over the baby’s head — a movement that can frighten newborns and poses a problem until the umbilical cord has fallen off. Once the cord has healed (after about 2–3 weeks), you can switch to standard bodysuits.

Choose the right material

Cotton is the go-to material for baby grows. Choose GOTS or OEKO-TEX certified organic cotton which guarantees the absence of pesticides and harmful substances. As a baby's skin is five times thinner than that of an adult, it absorbs more of the chemical residues present in uncertified textiles.

For the winter, certain cotton-merino wool blend bodysuits offer warmth and thermal regulation without being scratchy — particularly appreciated for babies born in the winter.

How many should I buy?

For a newborn, allow approximately 6-8 bodies Keep to a minimum for size (newborn, 1 month, 3 months). They get dirty quickly (spitting up, nappy leaks) and need changing frequently. For larger sizes (6 months and over), 5-6 bodysuits are generally enough.
