Weaning is an adventure — flavours, textures, independence. Our silicone meal sets, non-slip plates, bibs and mealtime accessories make this time simple and safe. Food-grade silicone, BPA-free, dishwasher safe.

Guiding baby through the weaning adventure

Introducing solid foods begins at around 4–6 months and marks the start of a new adventure for baby: one of flavours, textures and, gradually, independence. At PetitMaxou, our feeding accessories are chosen to make this time simple, fun and safe — for baby and for the parents cleaning up afterwards.

The baby meal essentials

One silicone meal set is the essential starter set: non-slip partitioned plate, cutlery adapted for small hands, training cup. Food-grade silicone is unbreakable, dishwasher and microwave safe, and offers a soft surface for delicate gums.

Les bavoirs are essential — make sure you have at least 6–8 of them. To keep things varied, bavoirs with silicone pockets (which catch anything that falls out) are particularly effective.

There high chair or, for nomad families, a baby high chair harness (which turns any chair into a portable high chair) completes the device. Particularly useful at grandparents', in a restaurant or when travelling.

Baby-led weaning

Baby-led weaning is an approach where babies feed themselves whole foods with their fingers from 6 months onwards rather than spoon-fed purées. It develops autonomy, gripping skills and sensory discovery. To practise it, focus on:

  • A non-slip silicone divided plate
  • A long-sleeved bib made from plasticised fabric
  • A floor mat — BLW is synonymous with joyful chaos
  • Ergonomic cutlery adapted to his grip

Choosing the right food equipment

A few criteria to check: BPA-free and phthalate-free, food-safe material (food-grade platinum silicone, PVC-free plastics, food-grade stainless steel), ease of maintenance (dishwasher and microwave), stability (suction or non-slip base).

Make the meal enjoyable

The first meals can be tedious: baby refuses, spits out, plays with the food, throws the plate. It is normal and necessary for development. A few tips: offer without forcing, accept the play (it is sensory exploration), eat as a family to set an example, and above all do not turn the meal into a battle.

Frequently asked questions

From when should cutlery be introduced? Right from the start of baby-led weaning, around 6 months. Baby won't use them straight away, but will start to imitate.

Silicone or bamboo for tableware? Both are safe. Silicone is more durable, shatterproof and easy to clean. Bamboo is more eco-friendly but requires more delicate care.
