Indicative guide: children grow at their own pace, and brands cut differently. The measured height in centimetres remains the reference.
How to measure your baby correctly
- Lay your baby on a flat surface with legs straight, without forcing them.
- Measure from the top of the head to the heel with a soft tape measure.
- Choose the size equal to or just above the measurement.
- Between two sizes, pick the larger one: babies grow fast and cotton clothes shrink a little in the wash.
Frequently asked questions
Which size for a newborn?
Size 50 (birth) suits full-term babies of average weight. If your baby is expected to be big, also plan for 56: a newborn changes size within a few weeks.
Should you buy a size up?
For everyday clothes, going a size up is practical, especially for pyjamas, bodysuits and sleeping bags. For items that need a snug fit (booties, outdoor suits), stay close to the measurement.
Are sizes the same from one brand to another?
No. Always check the size chart on the product page and compare it with your baby's height in centimetres.
