There sleeping bag effectively replaces the duvet for newborns and infants: it prevents baby from uncovering themselves at night or getting their head caught in the blankets. Choose the TOG (warmth rating) according to the season: 0.5 to 1 TOG for summer, 2 to 2.5 TOG for winter, and the size according to baby's weight.
The plaited cot bumper protects baby from draughts and cushions impacts against the bars. Opt for braided, thin designs without thick padding, which could present a suffocation risk for very young infants. To be removed as soon as baby starts moving around in the cot or pulling themselves up.
Les fitted sheets in soft organic cotton complete the set. Get at least two so you can alternate them during washes. Make sure you check the dimensions: a sheet that comes away from the mattress during the night is dangerous for baby.
A few rules to follow. Check that the mattress fits the bed perfectly (maximum gap of 2 cm between the mattress and the frame). Wash all bed linen before first use, at 60°C if possible to eliminate dust mites. Air the bedroom daily, and change the bed linen every week.
