Looking after baby, oh so gently 🛁

Baby's skin, teeth and health require specific care. Our selection of skincare products — playful toothbrushes, thermometers, bathroom accessories — accompanies daily life gently and effectively. Adapted formulas, hypoallergenic materials.

Taking gentle care of baby

A baby’s skin is about five times thinner than that of an adult. Their eyes, gums and scalp require special care and products specifically designed to suit their delicate nature. At PetitMaxou, our skincare products are selected for their gentleness, effectiveness and skin-friendly properties, to ensure a stress-free daily hygiene routine for babies and children.

Baby hygiene essentials

A complete grooming kit includes a few essentials. A soft brush for sensitive scalps and to eliminate cradle cap. A rounded-tip nail clippers or a suitable nail file — a newborn's baby's nails grow quickly and they can scratch themselves. A thermometer reliable (rectal for toddlers, forehead or in-ear afterwards) for monitoring fever. Some sterile swabs for eye and nose cleaning.

For washing, choose products with a neutral or slightly acidic pH (5 to 6), free from perfume and harsh preservatives. Superfatted soaps, oleo-limestone liniments and vegetable oils (sweet almond, calendula) remain the classic choices for gentle cleansing.

Learning to brush one's teeth

A baby’s first teeth appear between 6 and 10 months, and dental care should begin as soon as they appear. Before the age of 2, gentle brushing with a damp flannel or a very soft-bristled toothbrush is sufficient, using a small amount of suitable toothpaste (fluoride-free or containing a very low level of fluoride).

From the age of 2-3, a toddler can start brushing their own teeth, under supervision. The fun toothbrushes (animal shape, 360° brush, handle adapted for small hands) turn this chore into playtime. A 2-minute brush morning and night, and the routine is established.

Monitor baby's health

A good thermometer is one of the essentials in any healthcare kit. For newborns, rectal measurement remains the most reliable. From 6 months onwards, infrared forehead thermometers offer a quick and comfortable measurement—particularly useful for checking a sleeping baby's temperature without waking them.

Fever in an infant (above 38°C in a baby under 3 months old) should systematically lead to seeing a doctor. In older children, monitor how it develops and their behaviour before worrying.
